Pachena Milos
Pachena is a picturesque settlement and quiet tourist resort on the north coast of Milos Island. Pachena is located off the Adamas-Pollonia road, about 7km. from Adamas and 3 km. west of Pollonia. The area of Pachena (pron. PAH-heh-nah) features a beautiful sandy beach with a number of tamarisk trees providing shade in the hot summer days, a few syrmata dwellings, a number of private residences, and plenty of parking.
Pachena Accommodation
There are several accommodation options in Pachena, Milos, from rooms, apartments and studios to a 3-star hotel, all within walking distance from Pachena beach. Pachena visitors will most likely opt to rent a vehicle (car or moped) to get to other points of interest in Milos, and to go shopping in Pollonia, Triovasalos or Adamas, since there are no mini-markets, bakeries or news stands in Pachena. There is a bus stop in Pachena, about 300m. from the settlement on the Adamas-Pollonia road. Buses connect Pachena to Adamas, Pollonia, and the upper villages of Milos such as Plaka and Triovasalos.
Pachena Beach
In addition to the main beach of Pachena, there is a remote rocky beach a little further west, as well as a small cove to the east of the settlement, overlooking the areas of Papafrangas and Kapros. Pachena is also very close to the neolithic settlement of Phylakopi, where findings attest to a 5,000 year old civilization. The uninhabited Glaronisia islets are within half a mile off the coast of Pachena.
